Top Callers 2.1
PCBoard/ProDoor Utility

What is Top Callers:
A while back, I created a little program called Top Ten that created a Top
10 list of Cities, Callers, Downloaders, and Uploaders that was very short and
to the point and took very little RAM so could be run in an event on machines
with limited memory.
Well, while no one bothered to register it (ahem..), many people did
contact me asking for various changes: COLOR capabilities, more than 10
callers per list, and for the most part, complete configurability. Well here
is Top Callers.... It's very likely I have plagerized the name since it's
pretty generic.. but it get's the point across. Top Callers let's you
configure the type of color bulletin to create, either true ANSI or PCB @Xnn
codes, and the colors for the various parts can be set using plain english,
Ex: BRIGHT WHITE ON BLUE. Top Callers also allows to you specifiy the number
of entries for each of the four lists, with 0 excluding a list entirely.
For more information, read the remarks in TOPS.CNF, and note that all
variables must start at the beginning of a line. If you would like to use
multiple configuration files, then include the name of the configuration file
after TOPS. The default name is TOPS.CNF
Version 2.0 adds four new variables to the CNF file. It allows you to
mask out caller names and or security levels, and adds a new protocol
usage to the end of the finished bulletin. As of this version, James
Davis has bought the rights to the program and all questions or comments
should be directed to him.
Version 1.12 displays the amount of free RAM as records are read into
memory for sorting. This should help those people who are running TOPS in
a multitasker and get errors, usually due to not enough memory.
Version 1.11 fixes the color bulletins, the proper color was not being
"reset" after each line causing the frame to look funny.
Version 1.1 fixes the ratio problem where the display was messed up. I
have been contacted by a number of SysOps that are having problems with
TOPS running out of memory because they have a LOT of users. To correct
this problem, I am working on 2.0 that will use your hard drive to store
all of it's pointers (or a RAM Disk if have one) and other data while
working on the statistics for each part of the bulletin.
Disclaimer:
Top Callers was created on a 486 with ample hard drive space, VGA and all
the extras.... It was tested on a generic XT system with monochrome and very
little else and worked without any problems. If Top Callers does not work on
your system, or alters, or destroys any data, I cannot be held responsible.
Use at your own risk.
Registration:
I realize that most SysOps cannot even afford to pay their bills, much
less register every program that comes along. However, we programmers are
also usually on the broke side (at least I always am) and need you to support
us so that we can in turn pay those registration fees to download all those
programs and utilities from your BBS's. So, to make things a bit easier, the
registration policy for Top Callers is simple. If you are using Top Callers
on your BBS, I would like you to send me $10, and in return I'll send you a
personal registration code that will remove all the nasty UNREGISTERED
messages from your bulletins. However, if you don't have the available funds,
then please feel free to use Top Caller with the knowledge that I won't hunt
you down and kill you. Use the included ORDER.FRM and fill it out completely
for your order to be processed as soon as possible. Read it's instructions
for further information on placing your order.
For support of this and other programs written by myself, please call The
Taste BBS at (718) 252-4531.....
